[blue_heading] Strongman Shepherds Pie $2.13 per person [/blue_heading]

Today let’s keep it simple. This recipe will bring two things that I have a growing fondness for. . . food & exercise.

The great thing about these two important things is that they go hand in hand with one another. To exercise you must have the nutrients from food; the need for food comes from our daily activity.

This recipe is based LOOSELY on the traditional shepherds pie. I added rice and sweet potato to make it something a little bit healthier and it actually tastes great! It’s sweet at the top with the sweet potato and cinnamon and savory an filling at the bottom with the rice soaked with soy sauce. If you enjoy any or all of these ingredients than I know once you try this you will like it.

So give this a cheap stir and enjoy!

Instructions
  1. Add two cups of water to a pot and ring to a boil. Add in one cup of rice, cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 25-20 minutes until rice is fully cooked.
  2. Saute chopped onions in a heated and oiled pan. Add in the ground turkey, season with whatever you would like (I used some Ms. Dash Southwestern seasoning, garlic, cayenne, S&P and chili powder). Ground turkey lends itself well to hot spices!
  3. Grab a large sweet potato and wash and puncture a few holes all around. Wrap in a wet paper towel and nuke the little tater for 5-8 minutes (depending on size and strength of microwave oven). Set the sweet potato aside and then heat up your mixed veggies or stir fry them in the pan after removing the ground turkey. I chose to layer my shepherds pie like so . . .
