First, let me tell you that I know these chips are not “true” homemade chips like you would imagine from a made-from-scratch chip. This is a cheap short cut that is somewhat homemade so don’t fret and try and enjoy.

If you have some avocados and some corn tortillas hanging out in the kitchen then go for it!

I used buttermilk ranch dressing just to try it and it turned out really good (too bad it didn’t LOOK a little better) but I was happy with the taste which was, at least for me, the far more important part. Use any other dressings; I think some added fresh squeezed lime juice would go good with avocado in case your feeling extra thrill seeking.

Just like with most of the recipes on this site, i’m not saying everyone will enjoy them but maybe some will.

So don’t forget the napkins cowboys and cowgirls and get to eatin’. -Cheapstir

Buttermilk Ranch Avocado Dip
Baked Chips
Servings: ounces
Instructions
Dip
  1. Saute chopped onions and garlic in oil in a pot on the stove (medium high). Add in seasonings (chili powder, dried pepper flakes, salt &pepper).
  2. In a food processor or blender, add the avocado and blend for about 10 seconds or until a peanut butter consistency.
  3. Add a drop or two of balsamic vinegar for some ZANG!!
  4. This dressing was an experiment and turned out well.
  5. A few drops of my "buttermilk ranch dressing" should do the trick! Blend for an additional 30 seconds or until well blended.
  6. My avocado was almost too ripe, so yours will most likely be a far brighter green in color.
Baked Chips
  1. Grab tortillas.
  2. Oil then stack and slice the tortillas into 4 quarters.
  3. Lay tortillas on a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Bake chips in the oven at 425 degrees for 20 minutes flipping them half way through cooking.
  5. After 20 minutes, pull the chips from the oven and immediately salt/season them.
  6. Now put it all together and enjoy.
